Black Orchid Loose Leaf Tea
This delicately curled leaf has the fragrant punch of ripe honeydew melon on a summer’s day underpinned with the classic grounding notes of black tea.
This unique black tea is made by one of India's first female tea producers -- Muskan Khanna -- as part of a series she is creating by adapting Japanese and Chinese methods to Indian tea leaves. The two leaf and bud sets are brought into the factory in bamboo baskets and laid on a trough for withering overnight. The next day the leaves are allowed to oxidize for a few hours (depending on weather conditions) after which, they are roasted and then rolled by hand. Finally, the tea is put through an aroma machine where the final drying is done.
The result of this meticulous process is an exquisite, elegant black tea. It is fragrant with notes of dried plum and crisp Asian pear, and has significant body.
Made in India on a woman-owned farm.
