Sir Hooker House Terrarium

While retaining its roots in the classic style of the Victorian Wardian case, the Hooker House Terrarium has an updated design for the modern indoor gardener. Perfect for a mid-century-modern aesthetic, this terrarium is large enough to plant four or five of your favorite succulents or miniature plants.  It features a 4-point pyramid hip roof, a clean symmetrical design, and the space to cultivate your own collection of rare plants. A wonderful gift for a birthday or wedding, or just something very special for the plant lover in your life.

Sir Hooker House is a tribute to Sir William Hooker, the director of the Royal Botanic Gardens from 1841-1865. He was responsible for convincing the British government to include botanists on expeditions; and within the first 15 years of the invention of the terrarium, he imported six times more varieties of flora to Europe than in the previous century.

Lead Head Glass terrariums are handcrafted out of reclaimed glass and wood from deconstructed homes in Detroit and built using traditional stained glass techniques. The terrariums are modeled after 19th century Wardian cases, originally used to transport exotic plants around the globe, and are the ideal environment to raise your own miniature garden or display favorite objects.
